Pluck Tea's CleanHub Partnership: Our Impact So Far

At Pluck, we know the first ingredient in tea is water. So protecting waterways has always felt like a natural extension of what we do.

Since 2024, we’ve partnered with CleanHub to help recover plastic before it can reach oceans and vulnerable waterways. We are proudly plastic-negative, and thanks to every person who has ordered Pluck Tea, that impact is adding up.

Together, we’ve helped recover 19,748 kg of plastic - the equivalent of 987,394 x 500 ml plastic water bottles. (As of September 9, 2026)

That’s a milestone we’re incredibly proud of - because you helped make it happen.

Why CleanHub?

Sustainability has been part of Pluck from the beginning.

We hand-blend and pack our teas at our own Toronto facility, source Canadian-grown ingredients whenever possible, incorporate upcycled ingredients from local food makers, and use plant-based compostable pyramid tea bags.

But we also know our responsibility doesn’t end with what goes into your cup.

Plastic pollution is a global problem, particularly in regions without reliable waste-management infrastructure. When plastic isn’t properly collected, it can make its way into rivers, coastlines, and eventually our oceans.

CleanHub works in communities where better collection systems can make a meaningful difference, recovering plastic before it reaches the water.

For us, it was a natural fit.

Impact You Can Actually Track

One of the things we value most about CleanHub is transparency.

Plastic collected through its network is tracked and verified, allowing us to see the measurable impact of our partnership rather than simply making broad sustainability promises.

And we’ve connected that impact directly to our tea community.

For every $1 spent at Pluck, we fund the recovery of plastic equivalent to one 500 ml plastic water bottle.

So whether you’re restocking your favourite Earl Grey, exploring a new oolong, or whisking up your morning matcha, your order is contributing to something bigger.

Supporting People, Too

CleanHub’s work isn’t only about plastic.

By building waste-recovery systems in communities that need them, CleanHub also supports safer working conditions, fair wages, childcare and more reliable employment for the people doing this important work. Out of the 350 employees across 154 locations, women make up 47% of this workforce.

That combination of environmental and social impact is a big part of why this partnership matters to us.

Reaching 19,748 kg of recovered plastic - the equivalent of 987,394 x 500 ml plastic water bottles - is an exciting milestone, but we’re nowhere near finished. We are proudly plastic negative and hope to continue growing our positive impact while sharing delicious premium teas.

Our CleanHub partnership is one part of a much bigger commitment to doing things differently - from sourcing directly from tea farms and upcycling local ingredients to blending in Canada and continually looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact.

Most importantly, this milestone belongs to our tea community, too.
