Recipe: Spice up your (tea) life!
'Tis the season for cozying up to your favourite cuppa, and to getting creative!
Mulled Tea is a fantastic way to ring in the holidays, and couldn't be simpler. By adding spices such as cinnamon, clove, and cardamom, together with fresh fruits such as cranberry and orange you can add your own special twist. The possibilities are truly endless.
We used our Southbrook Berry Blend for this recipe - but our Sunset in Niagara, CTRL+ALT+DEL, or East Coast Chai would all work beautifully. A classic black tea such as English Breakfast would also form a perfect base to build from.
Step 1: Steep up your base tea in a medium pot. We used 2 Tablespoons of Southbrook Berry Blend and 1L water. Bring to a simmer, let steep five minutes, and strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer.
Step 2: Add freshly sliced oranges, cranberry, clove, cinnamon, and a squeeze of lemon. Bring to a gentle simmer and let steep for 15-30 minutes. Do not boil.
Step 3: Sweeten to taste (honey, maple syrup, or sugar) and strain your creation into a mug. Garnish with a fresh orange slice (studded with cloves if you're feeling it) and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
